  1. Prime Remote

    • Available to those living 50 miles from a MTF.
    • Family members can participate in a program very similar to Prime.
    • Can see a local healthcare provider who is part of the TRICARE authorized network.

  2. Prime Overseas

    • Works the same as Prime in areas where there are military facilities and a network of approved civilian providers
    • If this is not the case, your primary care manager may refer you to a Regional Medical Service Center, which should be an authorized provider.
    • Not available for active duty or activated Guard and Reserve.

TRICARE offers a complete menu of health-related services for service members and their families, including:

  1. Prescription Coverage

  2. Vision Benefits

    • Available for eligible users age 3 and older (if under age 3, special rules apply)
    • If you see a network provider, you don’t need a referral
    • Some surgeries and treatments for eye disease are covered
    • Eyeglasses at your MTF are free
    • This is only for TRICARE Prime coverage

  3. Dental Coverage

    • Active duty and activated Guard and Reserve are not eligible for Tricare Dental Plan since their receive direct dental care at the Dental Clinic on base
    • Spouses and family are eligible for specified premiums for one or more members
    • Cost of dental coverage may be deducted from the pay of the member - must pay premiums for 12 months and then month to month thereafter.
